Recipe Time: Chicken and Mushroom pie

Now for the recipe which was supposed to have been posted at the beginning of this month.
My parents came over for a thank you dinner to show my gratitude for their help with the house. The main course was this:

Chicken and mushroom pie with dinner salad.

Looks good huh? Since this dish was made by merging 2 different ones, I'll describe them separately.

For the Chicken and Mushroom pie you need:
  • 500 g of chicken fillet or chicken breast
  • 8 - 10 slices of puff paste (bladerdeeg)
  • 125 g of mushrooms (I used 250)
  • 1 onion
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 table spoon of flour
  • 3 dl of chicken bouillon
  • 1 table spoon of parsley
  • salt, pepper and oil
  • (1 egg)
  1. You start by slicing the chicken into small cubes and boiling it in a pan. When that's getting ready, you slice the onion, mushrooms, parsley and garlic. Don't forget to let the puff paste defrost. Then preheat the oven at 200 degrees Celsius.
  2. Heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the onion on a medium flame. Stir it every now and then until it has softened. Add the mushrooms and garlic and fry them together for 2 minutes.
  3. Kill the flame and throw in the flower. When that has mixed, you add the bouillon and light the flame again. Stir it well while boiling until it becomes a nice thick and smooth sauce*.
  4. Mix the sauce with the chicken, parsley, salt and pepper and leave it be. Now you can either choose to make 1 big pie or several small ones. This time I chose to do small ones, since it is easier to serve and it looks nice for guests. You fold the puff paste in envelopes** and fill them with chicken mixture. For the big pie, you cover a baking dish with the puff paste, fill it with the mixture and seal it off with puff paste.
  5. You can coat the pie with some egg, but I usually skip that part. Then you bake it for 30 minutes in the preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius and you're done!
  6. Enjoy your meal ;-)
